Our Steam Train Experience turned out to be a rail journey on a diesel-electric Intercity 125.... It was thoroughly enjoyable experience and we would definitely recommend.

Not what I had expected

We were given a steam train experience. So I read up and it states that the steam train could be cancelled due to hot weather. So we waited until the cooler weather. Extremely disappointed when we get to the station to be told no steam train is running on that day. They only run on certain weekends. Nowhere in the booking does it say that it won't be a steam train. I can sit on a diesel train any time. But we made the most of it. Just wanted a steam train.

Wonderful stay at the fabulous Sitwell Arms. Lovely large family room, spotlessly clean and nice bathroom with toiletries and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was a delight. So much choice on the continental with fresh fruit, yummy pastries and a great choice of cereal and the cooked breakfast was to die for. Plentiful tea, coffee and toast in a beautiful setting with period features. Communal rooms had beautiful comfortable and attractive furniture and all the staff were welcoming and warm . Our stay was a wonderful gift from our Son and his family and we will remember it always. Would have loved to stay longer. Part of the gift was a steam train ride which we also thoroughly enjoyed. Well done and Many thanksto The Sitwell Arms, The Wirksworth Railway staff and Activity superstore .A lady at the Activity Superstore was extremely helpful when there was a small glitch with our voucher. Thoroughly recommend the whole experience

I’m always nervous of booking via a 3rd party but everything was really simple and had no issues. Vineyard experience was great and the wine was delicious- always a bonus !! Timing of the tour was relaxed and didn’t feel rushed
