I was gifted a specific experience that ended up being cancelled. Helen promptly and kindly helped me choose another and gifted me the value difference. Now I can have two different experiences! I'm really impressed by the breadth of activities the Indytute has on offer. As far as experience platforms go, The Indytute is one of the more original and fresh companies out there. Their prices are really competitive and the fact that they're a small company means you're getting to speak to real people when you need customer service, not robots. That alone is a HUGE selling point for me these days. I haven't even gone on my experience yet and I'm already sending my friends and family to their website. You won't regret it.

We had a really great time and learnt a lot about how we can use our phones to take better pictures. We took some great pictures on the day and have been using the tips we learnt since the class.

The Urban photography with James was a birthday present from my wife, all communications with Claire via Indytute were spot on and the meet was on time. James is a skilled photographer and all round nice chap who was able to communicate to the array of clients with varying skills, ages and equipment. The 90 minutes flew by and centred around four photography tasks to sharpen the skills. The last task was quite an enlightening experience for me, James instructed us to walk down Brick Lane and ask total strangers if we could take their portrait, with some carefully chosen words of encouragement and examples what followed was an experience that will stay with me forever. As the picture depicts, I spotted this rather stern chap who was busy working on the market, after my initial request to outline what I wanted, we proceeded to a silent Mexican stand-off whilst the guy considered a total stranger taking his portrait. I was overjoyed with the image and just wish I'd taken it with my Nikon DSLR but the whole point of the urban photography course was to use a camera phone. 10/10 for James and the whole course - It's was brilliant in every way.

James was brilliant - he struck the perfect balance of fun, informal and informative and everyone really enjoyed the safari. I'd definitely recommend this if you're a keen instagrammer and looking for some useful tips to freshen your 'gram game and better use your phone camera.
