The passenger facilities at Wirksworth Station were very good and well maintained with further improvements under way. The LMS carriages were in excellent condition and the overall train journey was very good, the only dissapointment was the fact that the steam loco which was due to haul the train had developed a fault which required immediate attention, the train was therefore hauled by a diesel loco which didn't have the same nostalgia attached to it.

Had an absolutely wonderful day, topped off with a delightful afternoon tea for two at the Abbey Tea Rooms in Glastonbury. Quaint little venue with a huge selection to eat and drink. Did not bat an eyelid when asked to be seated outside, as it was such a gorgeous and sunny afternoon. Cheerful and friendly staff served fresh sandwiches and scones with cream and fresh clotted cream. Will definitely visit there again when we are next in Glastonbury.

Easy to find bit if a narrow road when you get there but not to bad. Plenty of parking place you have to pay for parking but not expensive. Gentleman in the ticket office very pleasant and helpful as was the rest of the staff at the railway as they are volunteers. Train journey hour and a half there and back comfortable seating but a bit cold. Some beautiful scenery bot spoilt a bit by bushes.

My husband and I received an Activity superstore voucher for Christmas, to which we booked our train trip at Nene valley railway as it was the closest one to choose from to our location, I have to say we absolutely enjoyed our trip, the old style carriages with buffet car on board was a delight, the little beautiful station of Wanesford was a delight in it self, lots to do and see, we would recommend it to anyone who wants to step back in time for the day.

An excellent day. My wife and I received the activity day as a present. It included one nights B&B and a day out on a steam train. The day spent on the Nene Valley Railway was a nostalgic look into the past, the day included a full day's pass travelling between the 4 stations comprising the NV Railway and included travel all day, stations with souvenir shops, a small museum, tea shops and artifacts from the days of steam travel. We really enjoyed the day - a completely relaxing time at a slow pace - great !! The B&B experience was spent at the Queens Head, Nassington, Nr Peterborough, a few miles from the main station on the railway. We turned it into a short break by paying for a second night's B&B and evening meals on both nights. The hotel comprises of chalet type accommodation which was comfortable, clean and the food was excellent - would recommend.

We had an excellent experience. Wife has a mobility scooter which was not a problem. The staff were so helpful and very knowledgeable about the arra and the railway. We had a great journey and a special day out, many thanks to everyone involved.

We travelled quite some distance to ride on the steam train. It was OK. The carriage was very comfortable. A nearby town had festival going on so that added to the experience overall.
