With the Steam Train Experience for Two, history buffs and train enthusiasts alike will appreciate the chance to experience travel as it would have been at the turn of the last century. For a fascinating experience about how steam power changed the way the world worked, this activity cannot be missed!
On arrival at your chosen venue, you can swap your voucher for steam train tickets at the ticket office.
The experience on offer will vary depending on the venue you choose. Some journeys are all day rovers which allow you to get on and off throughout the day and some are return journeys. Either way, you can explore the local area as well as enjoying your steam train experience.
Some locations have other attractions included in the ticket price such as a museum or information centre.
The gift vouchers you use for your experience gifts typically have a 18 month validity.
If you have not used your voucher in this time, please contact us and we may be able to help extend the deadline by up to a further six months.
There is an administration fee to extend the validity of a voucher.

My husband and I stepped back in time on a relaxing steam train ride. It was wonderful to reminisce back to our childhoods. All staff were so good. Something I would recommend and actually repeat myself.

This activity was sold as tea and steam train. However tea was on a separate day and the train ride was 11mins down line get out and watch engine position, then 11 mins back. Good day for train enthusiasts but not how it was sold. Those operating the train were excellent. In addition we had to travel over 2hours to get there.

I was not given the option to book seats on the steam train so when we arrived 3 of the 4 carriages had bookings for afternoon teas provided by an outside provider so on the journey back we had to stand. We were told they were not able to add another carriage on this day. So disappointed with this. More organisation in the booking system would be appreciated in the future. But we made the most of the trip.

Excellent day out, the station & train were lovely, full of praise for the volunteers who keep this going, lots of things to see, very nice cafe on site & the food looked very good but due to other commitments we didn’t have time to see everything & try out the cafe menu. Would definitely recommend & would go again ourselves 💯

This experience exceeded our expectations. We weren't quite sure what to expect with this gift voucher apart from a ride on a steam train. It was lovely to see the old steam train and also the whole set up was amazing. The station, old ticket office, old W H Smith store, signal box and workshops were fascinating and we learnt a great deal. The cafe, although quite small served lovely food and we had lunch and later on a slice of afternoon cake and tea. We ended up spending over 4 hours there which included 2 trips on the train. A very worthwhile experience which we thoroughly enjoyed.

We were bought a voucher for a Christmas present. A relaxing day out on the railway, we went from Wansford up to Peterborough, walked around Railworld and then went into town for lunch, timed it to get a train back to Wansford. Really nice and helpful staff. Thank you
