IN A NUTSHELL

Whether you just want a gentle treasure hunt or something a bit more competitive, this experience is a unique and fun day out for groups of families and friends of all sizes.

The treasure hunt is held on public land in either a city, rural or London location. There are two different sets of clues which are based on things you will see as you follow the route. The easy clues are straightforward - they will ask you for a fact that you should be able to observe on the route, for example information on a plaque or statue. In the cryptic version, the clues are generally a bit more challenging. They may be harder to spot, require some interpretation or general knowledge, and a few will be slightly cryptic - a bit like a crossword clue.

You will also be provided with up to three bonus rounds that you can use alongside the main clues. These might include:

- A picture round
- Pub name clues
- Items to collect

The main clues are integrated with instructions for the route that you will need to follow. The instructions tell you where the hunt starts and which streets to go down. The main clues appear in the order you can expect to see them (but the picture and pub clues are jumbled up so you need to keep a look-out at all times).

Once you have redeemed your voucher and selected your location, you will receive a pdf file pack via email. You can then decide which sets of clues you want to use, print them off and make as many copies as you need for the number of family members and friends taking part. As many people can take part as you would like, and they can enjoy the hunt at any time.

Please note, the London and city treasure hunts are all on foot, while the rural hunts will require a form of transport. All the rural hunts and many of the others are not a circular route, so have different start and finish locations. This is not an organised event, you will receive your treasure hunt pack to use in your own time.

About this experience
  • Availability: You can choose the date and time you wish to do the treasure hunt, throughout the year.
  • Duration: The treasure hunt will take approximately 2 to 3 hours.
  • Group Size: There is no maximum group size for this experience, although larger parties may want to split into smaller groups.
  • Minimum Age: There is no minimum age for this experience, however it is recommended for 8 years and older.
  • Fitness: You need to have the ability to walk for 3 hours.
  • Spectator Information: This experience is not suitable for spectators, but an unlimited number of people can take part.
  • Qualifications: You do not need any qualifications to take part in this experience, although you will need to be able to drive for rural treasure hunts.
  • Weather Dependant: This experience is not dependant on the weather.

What did the experience entail? We thoroughly enjoyed a family day out to Lancaster where we were all able to take part in a fun-filled treasure hunt. The treasure hunt wasn't too tricky, nor was it too easy, which meant that everybody in the family could get involved - regardless of age. It was such a wonderful way to explore the city of Lancaster, which is something that we had never done before. It even came with some extra 'bonus' rounds, which provided the adults a bit of an extra challenge as we meandered through the city, and it created some fun competition between us both! Overall, it was an immensely fun day. What did you enjoy the most? We enjoyed exploring a new city whilst taking part in the treasure hunt - it felt like a fun game.

Top Tip

1. Make sure that everybody in the family is involved and willing to try - it's much more fun that way. 2. Keep your eyes peeled ALL the time!! The clues are up high and low.

    Things to find weren’t interesting or related to the location at all. I was expecting to learn more about the city or to have quirky facts to find. Rather than just finding random signs etc.

    Very disappointing as it is not a Treasure Hunt but a quiz you have to print out yourself. Very expensive for what it is. Children Very disappointed and it didn't hold their attention. Don't waste your monet. Southwold is a lovely town but that is regardless on having Treasure Hunt there.

    There were 2 levels of difficulty for this hunt. As we had children with us, we chose the easy version. However, there was nothing easy about it! We found that several of the clues were outdated so no longer existed. Also, the wording of some of the clues was extremely difficult, even for adults. Regardless of this, it also had no conclusion. There were no puzzles or intrigue, it was simply answering questions (some of which impossible) and then it ended. We were really disappointed unfortunately. When we read the answers, we went back to find the clues we missed and discovered they were no longer there. All together, a disappointing experience.

    This was bought as my birthday present last year while my youngest daughter was living in Australia, it’s taken all this time for us to finally get together and do as a family. I can honestly say it was well worth the wait! So much fun! We all enjoyed immensely. We did the harder challenge and at times it was! Would highly recommend as a great family day out.

    We enjoyed this but some of the clues no longer exist and have not been there for some time. I do think it is overpriced especially since you have to pay for it to be printed off if you don't have a printer and even if you do have a printer, then it is your ink that you have to use again at 33 pages is very costly.

    We did the Chilterns Trail and really enjoyed the challenge of answering the clues. It was a good way to focus, but enjoy a leisurely visit in some lovely places. A perfect day out for a retired couple, with a great pub lunch on the way
