It's not every day you get to be the engineer on a train, but today you can with this Drive a Heritage Diesel Train experience. These iconic cars were once a staple in the railroad industry but have become classic locomotives and are hard to come by. In this adventure, you will be driving one from the 1950s, a fantastic era in the railway industry.
The lucky driver will be navigating the railcar through the Peak District from Wirksworth to Duffield — a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Feel the power of the heritage car as you whisk through the wind behind the wheel.
Lunch, for you and one guest, will be served once you reach Wirksworth station. You're welcome to bring additional guests, but they will need to pay for the lunch at the Pullman buffet. After lunch, you'll take the controls of the heritage locomotive again, driving some of the track.
