It was a really awful experience My niece came to visit from Bournemouth and I thought for a change we. would go out for an afternoon tea and as I had the voucher I thought we could use it The service was appalling we had to wait over half an hour for the food and then we sill hadn't received our drinks of tea and had to ask for our bubbles would not rate this establishment at all

The staff didn’t seem to have any idea of the ‘experience’ & were not attentive. The selection on offer was not the usual variety one expects for an ‘afternoon tea’ - it was rather dull in fact. I was very disappointed, particularly as it was an expensive birthday gift from my darling friend, whose company was the only saving grace for the afternoon. Wish I’d chosen another venue … I thought the Hilton would deliver, but it was not so, unfortunately.

I can only apologise you did not enjoy your Afternoon Tea at DoubleTree by Hilton, I can see the information for this experience does state you will receive the following:
' arrive you will be welcomed by the staff which will show you to your seats. You will be presented with a choice of teas, carefully cut finger sandwiches such as pickled cucumber sherry, vinegar and black pepper, salt beef, English mustard and watercress, egg chive and mayonnaise and Scottish salmon cream cheese. These will be followed by freshly baked scones served warm with Devonshire clotted cream, strawberry and raspberry preserve, fresh fruit tartlets, afternoon tea cakes and pastries. All to be washed down with your choice of a selection of fine teas or freshly ground coffee and a glass of bubbly.' My wife and I throughly enjoyed our afternoon tea with bubbly at the ARTea Room, dropping in at the venue to break up a long journey. The variety of tea on offer was excellent - I opted for Chinese Gunpowder whilst my wife choose the traditional English Breakfast, Tea and cream refills were no problem at all and there was more than enough sandwiches and cakes for us both. The service was friendly and efficient amongst an unusual room setting filled with pictures and various knick knacks that can be bought. A really relaxing break to our journey. Would recommend.
