Product Details

This hand thrown money pot is still made in Italy to the same design that has been used for over 2000 years before being painted with our designs and your unique personalisation in the studio in London.

These Terramundi pots are a fabulously traditional gift that’s had a modern personalised touch to create a perfect gift idea for anyone celebrating their 40th Birthday.

The money pot is painted in cream with the number 40 written on the front. The reverse of the pot is painted with your personalised message which can be up to 3 lines long with 10 characters on each line.

These personalised money pots make brilliant gifts for so many occasions and this one is ideal for a 40th birthday with the number 40 on the front and your personal special message on the back.

Once the money pot is full it will contain about 200 pounds in mixed silver which can only be removed from the pot by cracking off the top of the pot. After the pot has been broken and the money removed the pot can be used as a candle holder or even as a plant pot.

The hand spun nature of these pots means that no 2 will be exactly the same and they can vary in size slightly between 17cm and 19cm.

Terramundi Story

Terramundi was established by Dario Illari and Jacquie Ryle over 14 years ago in the upper floor of a flat in Kentish Town, the Studio is now somewhat larger and is located in Tottenham Hale, London.

Our money pots have been traditionally used in Italy for over 2000 years and their hand thrown design has remained unchanged. The British Museum houses examples of these ancient money pots.

Once the first coin is dropped the money pot must be fed until full upon which time it must be smashed whilst making a wish. It is customary to replace the pot and spend the money on 'good things', they bring good fortune.

Money pots are sometimes used to house a candle or a plant once smashed. The best way to break your money pot is to get a chisel or the back of a hammer and place it inside the money slot - slowly lever the top and you should be able to pop the top off - you can now use the money pots to house a plant, sweets or pens.

Terramundi money pots are hand thrown in Italy and hand painted in London. They stand between 17cms and 19cms in height.

Each money pot contains a separate fortune coin. Money pots hold approximately £200 in mixed silver.
