Half Day Cowes Adventure RIB Experience

The RIB or Rigid Inflatable Boat is a wonderful machine which combines straight line speed with high levels of manoeuvrability which make them so popular with Lifeboat crews and thrill seekers alike. Your RIB will be driven around the Solent Estuary area by an expert skipper. You'll get heart pounding high speeds and wave jumping thrills as you zoom through the seas. You'll also receive a historical tour of Portsmouth Harbour and the Solent based Forts. You'll then head to the yachting haven of Cowes for light refreshments before getting back into the RIB and getting back to action as you blast for home, just a little bit quicker than the ferry too!

The half day adventure starts at Gunwharf Quays at 9:30am. You will be kitted up with lifejackets and waterproofs before boarding one of the 29ft, ten seater powerboats (RIBs). After a tour around the harbour and historic ships, youll be taken out into the Solent and the throttle will be opened up. Youll experience speeds of up to 50mph as your experienced professional skipper shows you the historic sights of the Solent, including the Napoleonic Forts, the spot where the Mary Rose sunk and more. Depending on what events are going on that day, you may see some yacht racing, war ships, cruise ships, powerboat racing, or even a seaplane landing! There will be a 45 minute break in Cowes, where you can grab a drink in one of the waterside bars or cafes, or wander through the narrow cobbled streets absorbing some of the history in this world famous Sailing town. After that its back on board for some more high speed action as you blast back to Portsmouth, jumping off the wakes of ferries and ships as you go. Youll arrive back in Gunwharf Quays at around 13:30; the experience lasts around 4 hours.

Your voucher is valid for 10 months for one person. This experience runs on select dates (normally Saturdays and Wednesdays) from March until November. Minimum age - 12 years; under 18s must be accompanied by parent/guardian. The minimum height for participants is 1.52m (5ft) The maximum weight for participants is 108kg (17 stone). Please inform the supplier of any relevant medical conditions upon booking. Not suitable for anyone with heart problems, serious back and neck conditions, people in wheelchairs or pregnant women. If you are asthmatic you must bring your inhaler. If concerned about seasickness please take tablets 2 hours before the ride. Boats are fully insured and fitted with the latest safety equipment. This activity is weather dependant. Please check with us the day before to make sure the activity is going ahead, especially if you are travelling from a distance. There will be up to 9 other passengers in the boat. No one under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be permitted to participate. All dates are subject to availability.
